Visual and Performing Arts
Division 1 offers an exciting and creative selection of subjects that take a largely practical approach to learning. Of course, as our subjects are A and AS level, you will have to do some written work, but you will have plenty of opportunity to explore ideas and themes and issues independently and in groups both in and out of class.
Many of the teaching staff in Division 1 are practitioners in their subjects - practising artists, photographers, musicians, dancers, directors, sound engineers and film-makers - which we feel greatly enhances their ability to provide you with a realistic insight into the subjects and sound advice on progression routes.
We have good links with local theatres, cinemas, sound studios and galleries to widen your insight into our subjects.
If you are looking for a vocational package of subjects then it is perfectly possible to take combinations such as:
Fine Art/3D Art & Photography
Dance/Drama/Performance
Media/Film/Photography
Music/Music Technology/Film
and so on. We also contribute many courses to the college Enrichment programme - Student Production, Film Making, Sound Recording, Stage Lighting and Sound, Play Writing, Choir, Music Ensembles, Dance, Photography Workshop, Art Workshop - so that you can access our expertise even if you don't want to take an A level.
Students who have taken our courses have successfully moved on to Higher Education in visual and performing arts as well as into a variety of jobs.
Don't miss a visit to Visual and Performing Arts on Open Evening.
