Difficulty of the Chemistry course
It s It is widely recognised that A level Chemistry is one of the toughest subjects to pass and this, for many students, is part of its attraction. It is certainly a reason why a high grade in Chemistry provides a gateway on to so many competitive degree courses.
We ask that you have comfortably achieved a BB or above in Double Science, or a B in Chemistry and a B in Maths at GCSE prior to starting the course (higher grades strongly advised). Students should already be comfortable with basic algebra, graphs and balancing chemical equations as these skills are used regularly throughout the course. Applied science is not a suitable foundation.
