Summary of examinations:

The assessment for IB French is a mixture of examination work and coursework.

Exernal assessment - reading and writing (70%)

Both Higher and Standard Level students will sit two examination papers at the end of the second year of study.

Paper 1

Text handling

Section A: Reading 1 Hour 27%
  Section B: Written response 30 minutes 13%

Paper 2

Written production

Written production: 1 essay from a choice of titles 1 hour 30 mins 30%

Internal assessment - Oral component (30%)

Individual Oral Section A: presentation 3-4 minutes 15%
  Section B: Follow-up questions 3-4 minutes  
  Section C: General Discussion 3-4 minutes  
 Interactive oral activity  Best mark from class based debates, role plays, interviews

The IB French course (SL and HL) will draw on materials from following the same topics as AS and A2 and also include the study of French novels and films.
