Study Information
Teaching
International students are integrated fully into all classes and enrichment activities.
Our highly qualified subject teachers are dedicated to your personal academic achievement and will support and encourage you throughout your studies. Our class sizes are small with no more than 20 in a practical subject and 25 in an academic subject.
We also have a tutorial system where you will be part of a Tutor Group with an assigned a Tutor who will meet with you as a group on weekly basis and also in one-to-one sessions regularly. Your Tutor will support you with all of your academic and social needs, particularly if you are struggling and in need of additional help.
English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classes will also be timetabled in as compulsory support subject. These classes are designed to support and improve your use of the English language throughout your course and to formally increase your level of English ready for University. All students will be put forward for an IELTS test in both Year 12 and Year 13.
Classrooms
All of our classrooms are fully equipped with modern equipment and furniture, including interactive whiteboards and Internet access.
We also have a theatre, music and science labs, art studio, performance studios, photography suite with large dark room, a film suite and a sports centre.
Timetable
The first class starts at 8:55 and the last finishes at 16:00. There is also a morning and afternoon break as well as a lunch break. On a Wednesday there is timetabled time for all students to join an enrichment course which runs over the lunch period.
Reports
Year 12 students will receive a report at the end of the first term and Year 13 students at the end of the second term. These reports will be sent to parents and students and will show academic achievement as well as attendance, timekeeping, attitude, participation in class, responsibility for own learning and homework.
Enrichment
Enrichment is a series of courses available for all students. There are over 100 to choose from and include sports, dance, languages, drama, art and photography.
They run over a six week period and involvement is strongly encouraged.
Student Managers
The college has a student manager system where Year 12 students are interviewed for 12 positions covering all aspects of college life. This year 4 of our International students are managers.
Careers and Progression
The college has a dedicated career team who assist all students in making career decisions, helping them with University choices and subjects.
