I have applied to Bilborough College – what happens next?
Once you have completed your application, and pressed “submit” you will receive an email acknowledgement from us almost instantly. If you don’t get your confirmation email, please get in touch with us to check all is well with your application. It is very rare for this to happen, but sometimes it happens if:
- You submitted an invalid or incorrect email address
- Our system became temporarily unavailable at the time you pressed submit
- You submitted your application very close to the times that our back-up processes run (22:00 – 06:00)
Once we receive your application we will check it and then contact your school to request a reference. Sometimes, this can delay your application because some schools deal with references in batches. If you are at all concerned please contact us, as we know approximately how long it takes for references to come back from most of the schools we deal with. In most cases, you can expect to hear from us within 6 weeks of making your application.
When we receive your reference from school, we will review what your school has said and look at your predicted grades for GCSE and the subjects you have chosen to study at A level. As you know, we require a minimum of 5 GCSE passes grade C and above, including Maths and English and there are some subjects where it is strongly advised to have good GCSE grades to progress successfully to AS level and beyond.
Depending on your predicted grades, we may invite you in for a brief interview, just to check that your chosen course is absolutely right for you, but in most cases, we are able to offer a place based on the information we have in your application and the school reference and so a provisional offer of a place is made. You will then receive an email to confirm this. This means that provided you achieve the required grades in your GCSE’s, you can have a place at Bilborough College.
Please note that all students applying to study the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme are invited to attend an interview.
If you were unable to attend our Open Day and want to have a look around the college, we are offering tours once a month - details are on our Events page, but contact us to book a place as they are very popular!
Remember - you are welcome to contact us at any time to check the progress of your application.
