History: After 1066 – What Happened to the English? –The Norman Conquest was a defining moment in English history. Conquest by a foreign power brought in a new social and political élite, speaking a different language. Political, social and cultural changes were thus inevitable, but their extent has been widely debated by historians. This session will explore the impact of the invasion on the native English population.
